Wendy Ralfe October Blog

October 1, 2017

I've been looking at hormones a little more carefully and how they work and interact with everything your body does, so I decided to do a few blogs to let you know what I have found so far…

They all work in balance, between night and day, between eating and not eating. They also keep your mood balanced and in the world we live in with all the stress and life flying at us at full speed, it's worth knowing how they work and how to manipulate them.

For instance I always find it hard to get a decent night's sleep on a Sunday night, I am not sure why, maybe it's  due to getting stressed thinking about what I have to deal with on Monday, maybe it's due to too much sleep on the weekend, I'm not sure... Either way I have found that melatonin a hormone that your body produces while you sleep helps me sleep better on a Sunday night along with tryptophan which is made into serotonin by your gut biome. The more diverse your gut biome the higher your blood tryptophan levels. Serotonin is a mood controlling neurotransmitter (a happy hormone).

I wouldn’t suggest taking melatonin every night as it would stop your own body from making it, as you taking it would make it present in your body, so your body would stop producing it. Your body is always balancing its self.

Until next time…
