While its chilly out, there's nothing better than a nice cup of hot coffee or green tea, and here's what your cup of magic does for you…


It protects your liver, so if you are going out or have been out the night before and had a few, have some coffee. Before you go and after, your liver will thank you.


It gives you a training edge, caffeine content delivers a short-term burst of energy by triggering hormones such as adrenaline and dopamine. Good to have pre-workout, 30min or so before.


If you get jitters from coffee, it's not the coffee, it’s a mould called mycotoxin in the coffee beans. Bulletproof coffee doesn’t have it in, so may be worth trying it.


The amount of caffeine in green tea isn't as much as coffee and it’s slower burning, but lasts longer. Whereas coffee's caffeine has more of a kick, possibly due to there being more caffeine, but its shorter lived. It also helps burn fat.


The only down side I can see is that it may impact your sleep, depending on how fast you metabolise it. So generally I stop drinking coffee or green tea 6 to 8 hours before bed time.


My favourite thing is to add plain UCAN to my coffee in the morning, before going out on a training session :oD
