UCAN UK October Update by Wendy Ralfe, triathlete

As we are unable to get the UCAN snack bars in the UK due to them having monk fruit in them, I have been playing with ideas for a snack/protein bars. This is what I have found works quite well, but it does have to be kept in the fridge.

Nut butter bars (you can add cinnamon to this if you use plain UCAN)

2 x table spoons of nut butter (I used almond)

1 x scoop chocolate UCAN (or plain)

1 x table spoon coconut oil

(If you want more protein you can add an extra scoop of whey protein)
 

 

Mix the nut butter and the coconut oil together, until smooth. Then add the UCAN and extra protein (if you want it).

Mix until smooth.

Pour into a foil lined tray and put in the fridge to set (takes 2 or so hours, depending on how cold your fridge is).

When it has set, take out and cut into squares, and enjoy!!!
 

 

Cinnamon snack

2 x scoops of plain UCAN

1 x table spoon of coconut oil

Cinnamon to taste

(If you want more protein you can add an extra scoop of whey protein)

 
Mix the UCAN and coconut oil (and whey protein) together until smooth.

Add Coffee to taste and mix till smooth.

Pour into a foil lined tray and put in the fridge to set.

When it has set, take out and cut into squares, and enjoy!!!

 

The bar recipes below can also be used for gels (just don’t add the coconut oil, and add UCAN according to how long your training session is going to be), and of cause, put them in a gel bottle instead.

 
Lemon bars

2 x scoops of plain UCAN

1 x table spoon of coconut oil

Lemon juice to taste

(If you want more protein you can add an extra scoop of whey protein)

 
Mix the UCAN and coconut oil (and whey protein) together until smooth.

Add lemon juice to taste and mix till smooth.

Pour into a foil lined tray and put in the fridge to set.

When it has set, take out and cut into squares, and enjoy!!!

 

Strawberry bars

2 x scoops of plain UCAN

1 x table spoon of coconut oil

Smoothed strawberries to taste

(If you want more protein you can add an extra scoop of whey protein)

 
Mix the UCAN and coconut oil (and whey protein) together until smooth.

Add strawberries to taste and mix till smooth.

Pour into a foil lined tray and put in the fridge to set.

When it has set, take out and cut into squares, and enjoy!!!

 

Coffee bars

2 x scoops of plain UCAN

1 x table spoon of coconut oil

Coffee to taste

(If you want more protein you can add an extra scoop of whey protein)

 

 

Almond milk and cinnamon gel

1 or 2 scoops of plain UCAN

4oz Almond milk

Cinnamon to taste

 
Mix the UCAN and coconut oil (and whey protein) together until smooth.

Add Coffee to taste and mix till smooth.

Pour into a foil lined tray and put in the fridge to set.

When it has set, take out and cut into squares, and enjoy!!!
