UCAN UK Ambassadors: Kirsten Cameron

Taking part in sporting activities has always played a big part in my life. After graduating from University in 2002 with a BComm in Business Studies, I started my own Personal Training and Pilates business.

 

I would run regularly, on my own and with clients, as well as taking part in 10km races and half marathons for enjoyment. However, in 2012 I wanted to take on a new challenge involving more than one sport which lead me take part in my first local triathlon, which to my surprise I won.

 

Since starting my triathlon journey, I have become a complete convert. I started working with a coach and trained regularly with my local triathlon club to make improvements to my fitness levels in all three disciplines.

 

 However, fitting all the training in is by no means easy when working full time!

 I started off racing some smaller local races then set myself up for the challenge of the Outlaw Half in 2013 which I thoroughly enjoyed.

 

I then made my goal in 2014 to represent GB for my Age-Group at the European championships for Olympic distance, but I then shocked myself in qualifying for the Worlds in Edmonton instead but sadly became injured with a dislocated shoulder so was unable to take part.

 

During my time off I completed my triathlon coaching course and now I coach for a local club as well as 1-1 and small groups.  I feel privileged that I can now help others and be a part of their triathlon journey.

 

 At the moment I am training to qualify to represent GB for my Age-Group at Olympic distance again at the World Championships in Chicago.  And so far 2015 has started off well, where I recently won a duathlon at Velo Park, London and the novice Cycle Cross race at Foxlake.

 

I discovered Generation UCAN when working with a nutritionist in America in 2014 and together worked on training and race fuelling because I found that I just didn’t have the energy I needed to perform optimally.

 

 I take Generation UCAN 30 mins before training and this fuels me for the session ahead and when racing I take another serving once settled on the bike. I find it easy on the stomach and an excellent energy source. I now feel honored to have been asked to be an ambassador for the product and look forward to working with the team.
